Volunteer of the Month: February 2017

Every month, Animal Care & Control features a volunteer who's making a difference for the animals at the shelter.

Meet the February Volunteer of the Month, Doug Pelton.

How long have you volunteered with the City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter?

Two months.

Why did you decide to start volunteering with us?

My passion for dogs. Being involved and interacting with dogs to benefit them.

What is your favorite volunteer activity to help out with?

I love sharing affection with the dogs and helping as an ambassador for their adoption.

What is the strangest animal you have seen at the shelter?

None yet!

What is your fondest memory from volunteering at the shelter?

Every adoption that I have taken part in. Ginger being adopted to a great family was really special.

Do you have any pets at home?

Five dogs. Emily, my foster/adoption, was my fifth. And two cats!
