Volunteer of the Month: March 2017
Every month, Animal Care & Control features a volunteer who's making a difference for the animals at the shelter.
Meet the March Volunteer of the Month, Bobbie and Harry Morse.
How long have you volunteered with the City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter?
Why did you decide to start volunteering with the shelter?
We started volunteering with Harry’s company. We loved it so much we wanted to continue to help as much as we could.
What is your favorite volunteer activity to help with?
We love adoption events. It is wonderful helping the pups shine so they can get families. We love interacting with the pups and showing the public how wonderful they really are.
What is your fondest memory from volunteering at the shelter?
Harry pushing a fearful pup in a grocery cart so he could get adopted. The family wanted to show him how to love and trust again.
What is something you have learned from volunteering at the shelter that you wish everyone knew?
Shelter pets are so grateful. I also wish the general public were more educated about spay and neutering. We have such a crisis.
What do you do for fun when you’re not volunteering?
Spend time with children and grandchildren. Spend time with our FWACC baby. We also enjoy working on our home and working in our yard.
