Emma Hadjikiriakos

Every month, Animal Care & Control features a volunteer who's making a difference for the animals at the shelter.

Meet the May Volunteer of the Month, Emma Hadjikiriakos.

How long have you volunteered with the City of Fort Worth?

I’ve been volunteering here since the beginning of spring break.

Is there an aspect of our mission that motivates you to want to volunteer?

The passion which everyone strives to make sure the pets have a loving home to be a part of.

What is your favorite activity to help out with?

My favorite activity would definitely be walking the dogs.

What is the strangest animal you’ve seen at the shelter?

Sasha was the strangest dog that I’ve encountered at the shelter however, she is no longer there.

Do you have any pets at home?

Sadly, I was never lucky enough to grow up with any pets but, definitely tend to have some when I’m older.

What advice would you give to volunteers who have just started out?

For starting volunteers I would highly recommend coming with a friend. It makes the experience less stressful as a first timer and more fun.
