Volunteer of the Month: September 2018

Eddie Andrade

Every month, Animal Care & Control features a volunteer who's making a difference for the animals at the shelter.

Meet the September Volunteer of the Month, Eddie Andrade.

How long have you volunteered with the City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter?

I have been volunteering since September 2016.

Why did you decide to start volunteering with us?

I wanted to make a difference and help other animals who need love and attention.

What is your favorite volunteer activity to help with and why?

My favorite activity is the one that helps to find them a new home. Especially with a dog I have worked with.

Do you have any pets at home?

Yes I have six dogs.

What is something you have learned from volunteering at the shelter that you wish everyone knew?

I wish the general public were more educated about spay/neutering. Don’t judge a dog by its looks!

What do you do for fun when you’re not volunteering?

I listen to music and play with my dogs.

What advice would you give to volunteers who have just started out?

My advice would be for volunteers to work as a team to help improve our shelter and to stay positive for the pets.
