Lizzie McDevitt

Every month, Animal Care & Control features a volunteer who's making a difference for the animals at the shelter.

Meet the November Volunteer of the Month, Lizzie McDevitt.

How long have you been volunteering with the City of Fort Worth Animal Shelter?

One year

What is your favorite volunteer activity to help with and why?

Adoption Ambassador- I love helping adopters find that perfect forever best friend.

What have you enjoyed most about volunteering with the Animal shelter?

Working with the scared animals who need a lot more work to come out of their shell and get adopted. It is so much more rewarding to see them find homes.

What advice would you give to new volunteers who have just started out?

Have fun. Love the animals. Make friends. Find our babies a home… but have fun doing it!

Do you have any pets at home?

I have 6 pets! 3 dogs and 3 cats. And I love them all very dearly. They are ALL rescues from different states!

What makes you laugh?

I love to laugh… but my babies make me laugh the most. I love when they get so excited to see you that they drop down and give a butt wiggle, or they roll over for belly scratches. And when I say my babies that includes the shelter babies.
