Beck School of Construction - Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth and The Beck Group, the integrated architecture and construction firm, are launching a new construction program for Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) called The Beck School of Construction Fort Worth.

About the school

Classes will start on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, and will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Business Assistance Center, 1150 South Freeway in Fort Worth.

Program participants will be required to attend eight class sessions over a period of eight months in order to graduate from the program.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings, one evening per month, February through June and August through September. No classes will be held during July, as it is scheduled as a summer break. A graduation ceremony will be scheduled in early November.

  • Class 1: February 28
  • Class 2: March 28
  • Class 3: April 25
  • Class 4: May 23 (Due to Memorial Day weekend)
  • Class 5: June 27 (Site visit)
  • Summer Break – July
  • Class 6: August 22
  • Class 7: September 26
  • Class 8: October 24
  • Graduation: Tuesday, November 5

Eligibility

Applications for the program will be accepted until Jan. 23, 2019.

  1. Business must be certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council (DFWMSDC) or the North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency (NCTRCA).
  2. The business must have been in operation for at least one year and have an annual gross revenue of $100 thousand or greater.
  3. Business must provide construction services or construction-related services.
  4. Business must be located within the area’s six-county marketplace: Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Johnson, Parker and Wise counties.
  5. Applicants must submit a completed application by the deadline of 5 p.m. January 23, 2019.
