Assistant City Manager Valerie Washington
Area of Responsibility
Since 2012, Valerie Washington has been deputy director and chief financial officer for the Department of Public Safety in Indianapolis, where she is responsible for the operational and financial management for eight divisions, including police, fire, EMS, Homeland Security, Animal Care and Control and others.
Previously she was deputy director for the Office of Audit and Performance, earning her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and completing a project that yielded a $1 million savings at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Prior to this, Washington was chief financial officer for the Department of Public Safety and was assistant director of finance for the Marion County Supreme Court.
A native of Indianapolis, Washington is a graduate of Manchester College.
