Posted Oct. 3, 2012

City of Fort Worth employees battled hunger in our community by participating in the annual Food Drive benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

City employees collected 49,350 pounds of food and raised $47,082 in cash and check donations, making the drive one of the largest benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Drive.

“It was great to see City of Fort Worth employees donate their time and money to something they believe in,” said Aviation Director Bill Welstead, chairman of the food drive. “Fort Worth residents should be proud of their city employees. They truly care about those who need help.”

The Water Department collected the most pounds of food per employee (32.77) and also won the food sculpture contest. Planning and Development came in second in pounds of food per employee (27.01).

The Aviation Department collected the most dollars ($68.86) per employee. Law collected the second-most dollars ($60.37) per employee.
