FORT WORTH TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

AUTHORITY FOR CREATION AND OPERATION:  The Fort Worth Transportation Authority was created pursuant to the requirements of Article 1118y, V.A.T.C.S., Section 7, now codified in Chapter 452 of the Transportation Code, of which authorizes the City Council to appoint eight members to the Executive Committee.  The Fort Worth Transportation Authority was authorized by a vote of the citizens in an election held November 8, 1983.  The Fort Worth Transportation Authority is an autonomous entity.  Mayor and Council Communication No. G-6770 and C.P. No. 124 on August 12, 1986, revised the process for appointing members.

COMPOSITION:  Nine members.

METHOD OF APPOINTMENT:  The City Council appoints eight members.  Tarrant County appoints one member.

TERMS OF OFFICE:  One year.

GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES:  Prescribed in Chapter 452 of the Transportation Code.

Members are not considered to be officers of the City of Fort Worth.
