Buildings Standards Commission
Authority for Creation and Operation
The Building Standards Commission was created by Ordinance No. 6650, adopted on March 20, 1972, which ordinance was amended by Ordinance No. 8006 on November 7, 1979; Ordinance No. 10104, adopted April 26, 1988; Ordinance No. 12932 on March 25, 1997; and Ordinance No. 12989 on April 29, 1997.
Composition
Nine members. Places 1 through 9 are all "at large" positions.
The following City officials are ex officio non-voting members:
- Fire Chief
- Superintendent
- Chief Sanitary Engineer
- Building Official
Method of Appointment
Appointed by the City Council. Each member shall be duly qualified elector and a resident of the City. Can be removed by the City Council.
Terms of Office
Two year terms.
General Powers and Duties
The Building Standards Commission shall hear and decide appeals wherein it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Superintendent in the enforcement of Ordinance No. 12932, and it shall have the additional powers and duties as provided in Section 7-100 of Ordinance No. 12932.
Members are considered to be officers of the City of Fort Worth.
