Fort Worth Commission for Women
Authority for Creation and Operation
This Commission was created by Ordinance No. 8911 adopted on September 6, 1983, which ordinance was amended by Ordinance No. 15477 on March 18, 2003, changing the Fort Worth Commission on the Status of Women to Fort Worth Commission for Women and increasing the number of members.
Composition
Nineteen members
Method of Appointment
Nine members appointed by the City Council; members must be citizens of Fort Worth. Ten organizations that have shown an interest in issues relating to women, subject to approval by the Commission and the City Council, shall name a person to serve on the Commission for a one-year term, expiring October 1 of the following year.
General Powers and Duties
The Commission will study and advise the City Council on women's issues important to the community.
Members are not considered to be officers of the City of Fort Worth.
