LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
Authority for Creation and Operation: The Library Board was created by Chapter XVII, Section 1 and 2, Fort Worth City Charter, and was revised under authority of Ordinance No. 7207 adopted on August 11, 1975, and Ordinance No. 8907 adopted on August 30, 1983.
Composition: 9 members who are citizens of the City of Fort Worth.
Method of Appointment: Appointed by the City Council.
Terms of Office: Members shall be appointed for two-year terms. Members shall not serve more than three consecutive terms and shall be subject to removal at any time by the City Council.
General Powers and Duties: Recommends to the City Manager and the City Council plans for development of facilities and services to meet the needs of the City. It reviews and comments on the annual operating budget and capital improvement request. Recommendations made by the Board will be presented to the City Manager and the City Council for consideration.
Members are not considered to be officers of the City of Fort Worth.
Meeting Time and Place: Meets bi-monthly on 1st Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. (October, December, February, April, June and August) at various branch libraries; call Library for schedule of places. For meeting agendas, please see the Boards, Commissions and Committees page.
