Clean air and water are important to the residents of Fort Worth. The Environmental Management Division of TPW meets these challenges by:
- ensuring that all federal, state and local clean water and outdoor air standards are implemented and enforced
- monitoring the quality of stormwater discharge into creeks, rivers and lakes
- providing enforcement to prevent illegal discharges or dumping into the stormwater drainage system
- providing inspection services for air and stormwater quality compliance
- monitoring containment and clean-up of spills to prevent runoff into the stormwater system
- managing a hazardous household waste collection and disposal program
- monitoring outdoor air quality
- promoting and facilitating Brownfield site redevelopment to bring contaminated properties back into productive use
- providing education and outreach to promote practices that prevent stormwater pollution and reduce ozone and other air pollutants
Through these practices, Environmental Management strives to help Fort Worth reach its goal of being the most livable city in Texas.
