Diversity & Inclusion
The City of Fort Worth’s Diversity & Inclusion Department provides information and services related to basic human rights, including enforcement of the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance and federal housing, employment and accommodation laws. It also provides staff support to the city council-appointed Human Relations Commission (HRC). Additionally, the department strives to help create a welcoming community for all people by providing resources and outreach efforts that promote basic human rights and facilitate harmonious relationships among Fort Worth’s diverse population. To help achieve these goals, the HRC has two standing committees to address issues related to persons with disabilities and diversity and inclusion in the city workforce and the HRC Administrator also serves as the city’s liaison to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
The Diversity & Inclusion Department has the authority to enforce city ordinances and federal laws that prohibit discrimination in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodations. Diversity & Inclusion includes a staff of investigators and support personnel who can receive complaints if the city has jurisdiction, work toward conciliation with the parties involved, conduct investigations and issue a charge or determination if conciliation is not reached.

Diversity & Inclusion promotes community outreach efforts, which include workshops and training, special programming such as Movies That Matter, participation in community events and other resources.
