Assistant Fire Director Scott Hanlan
Scott Hanlan joined the department in July 2013 with 23 years of progressively responsible experience working for the City of Fort Worth. He has 30 years of experience working for local governmental entities within Tarrant County and obtained a Master’s of Public Administration degree in 1990 from the University of Texas at Arlington.
After serving as Assistant Director for both the Public Health and Code Compliance Departments for the City of Fort Worth, and as Associate Director for Operations with Tarrant County Public Health, Hanlan brings over 15 years of experience managing administrative and programmatic service units at the executive level for large governmental departments. Hanlan has led initiatives to analyze organizational efficiency and effectiveness, develop strategic and business plans, and develop and implement performance management systems.
Hanlan served as the City of Fort Worth’s Health Official from 2004 to 2013. During that time he completed numerous public health emergency preparedness training initiatives including FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) emergency preparedness and response coursework.
Hanlan has completed leadership initiatives including the City of Fort Worth Executive Leadership Program in 2008 and Leadership Arlington in 2002.
From 2007-2012, Hanlan served as an elected member of the City of Fort Worth Employee Retirement Fund’s Board of Directors.
