The Educational and Support Services Division is under the command of Deputy Chief David Coble. The educational section of the division includes recruit selection and training, in-service training of veteran firefighters, employee development, health and safety, and emergency medical services training and administration. The support section includes the fire communications, the fire supply unit, and the fire equipment services unit.
Chief Coble joined the department in October 1984 and has served as a firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, and captain. While the majority of his service time has been in the Operations Division, he also spent time as a Training Officer in the Educational Division and with the Office of the Fire Marshal where he supervised the Addressing and Planning unit. At the time of his appointment to Deputy Chief in July 2009, he was serving as Assistant to the Fire Chief in charge of Special Projects and Recruitment.
Coble is a state certified Emergency Medical Technician, and holds certification with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Inspector, Fire Service Instructor II, and Hazardous Materials Technician. Additionally, he is an Emergency Medical Services Instructor and is a part of the departments Critical Incident Stress Management Team.
A Fort Worth native, Coble is a graduate of Green B. Trimble Technical High School. He has earned an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Administration degree from Weatherford College, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
Chief Coble continues his commitment to education, professionalism, and the community. He is a graduate of in the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland and the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute at Clark Atlanta University. Additionally he is the recipient of the Governmental Excellence Award for the successful completion of the NFBPA / HLO - Executive Leadership and Development Institute. Chief Coble is a member of the following professional organizations: NTCOG, NFPA, IAFC, IABPFF, ICC, IAFF, CISM, NFBPA, FPANT, BCOC, and TCFC
Locally, he is the President of Sunset Oaks HOA Board of Directors and a member of the Woodhaven Community Development Board of Directors.
