In honor of Women’s History Month, each week in March Fort Worth Flashback will take a look at the role of women in our city’s history.

Pauline Gasca Valenciano provided more than 30 years of community service to Fort Worth, including social work, public relations and service as community liaison and election precinct chair.

She was selected by the Mayor’s Commission on Women as one of the Outstanding Women of Fort Worth for 1990.

In this 1988 photo, she is attending a Mexican-American Democrats event for Jim Wright’s congressional campaign. From left to right are Pauline Gasca Valenciano; Rep. Jim Wright, D-Fort Worth; Lucy Coronado; and Robert Coronado.

The Fort Worth Library has approximately 10,000 items pertaining to the history of Fort Worth and Tarrant County. These items include city and county government documents, newspapers, directories, cemetery association records, maps as well as popular and scholarly books written by local authors or about local subjects.
