Draft 2012-2013 Action Plan comment period open

The Housing and Economic Development Department will conduct a 30-day comment period on the draft 2012-2013 Annual Action Plan beginning June 25.

The action plan summarizes the major housing and community development activities and proposed expenditures from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) grant funds for the upcoming 2012-2013 program year. The program year begins on Oct. 1, 2012, and ends on Sept. 30, 2013. Activities and/or programs that receive funding during the year must contribute to the attainment of the goals outlined in the city’s 2010-2013 Consolidated Plan.

The total amount of grant funding is $9,328,851.00 for the 2012-2013 program year.

This includes $5,830,119.00 in CDBG funds, $1,973,169.00 in HOME funds, $532,857.00 in ESG funds, $942,706.00 in HOPWA funds and an estimated $50,000.00 in CDBG program income. The purpose of these funds is to benefit low and moderate-income individuals and areas throughout the city. ESG grant funds benefit homeless persons and HOPWA grant funds benefit individuals with HIV/AIDS within Tarrant, Parker, Hood, and Johnson Counties. A complete listing of how these funds will be allocated among different priorities and agencies can be obtained from the City of Fort Worth’s Housing and Economic Development Department by contacting the staff persons referenced at the end of this notice.

This notice is being posted to meet the City’s federal requirement to give citizens and interested parties at least 14 days advance notice of the dates of scheduled public hearings regarding the City of Fort Worth’s 2012-2013 Annual Action Plan.
