A universe of stories and grand adventures like these featured programs are at a library near you.
The audience will be taken to a world filled with dancing pants, guitar rockin' grandmothers, mischievous spaceships, and many more whimsical images. Poetry springs hilariously to life as soon as handmade, expressive shadow puppets hit the screen. A series of interactive vignettes and verses illustrate several key literary ideas (rhythm, rhyme, imagery, narrative, lyric, moral, etc.). This show will excite youth about poetry and puppetry, helping them to discover and express their own creative voices!
Have you wondered what it would take to live on the moon or in space? At the Astronaut Academy: Health & Exercise participants learn how astronauts can live in space, the ways they exercise, and what they eat in space. This program is sponsored by the UNT Health Science Center library and features educational activities, demonstrations and art.
This summer, experience a universe of stories as Dangerous Edison takes you on a tour through our own even more dangerous universe! From the coldest depths of the dark side of the moon to the blazing heat of reentering Earth's atmosphere, Edison will bring you great demonstrations designed to help everyone appreciate both our amazing universe as well as NASA's massive efforts at learning about and exploring 'where no man has gone before'. Edison invites you to come and enjoy the day as we also commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's first lunar landing.
Children will be dazzled and entertained as they interact with Mad Scientists! Foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in the air and even a special Mad Science 'burp' potion will amaze children as they learn about chemical reactions, air pressure and the states of matter.
Put on your pajamas, grab your favorite stuffed animal and join us for very special sleepover story time! At the end of story time, check in your favorite toy for a sleepover at the library. Your toy will be treated to overnight activities including crafts, snacks and a behind the scenes tour of the library along with special guests like Molly, the official mascot of the City of Fort Worth. When you pick up your stuffed animal the next day they will have some great stories to tell! We’ll also post photos of the sleepover on our website and social media channels.
Professor Mago of Hogwarts: The Dean of Recruitment is visiting the muggle world looking for kids that might have a little wizard blood in them. This 45 minute show is full of fun, interactive magic that makes the kids look like they are the ones responsible for the amazing things that happen. This show encourages reading while promoting self-esteem among your young audiences.
