Computer Classes at the Library
eSkills Library and Job Center offers a variety of classes including computer classes. Some require pre-registration. Please check the class schedule or call 817-392-6621 for more information.
The classes are held downtown at the Central Library in the Intel Computer Lab. Seating is limited to 25 participants, so please register early. Register by calling 817-392-7701.
All classes are on Saturdays from 2 - 4 p.m.
Class covers the parts of the computer, computer vocabulary, information about software and hardware, using a keyboard and mouse, information about purchasing a computer, and basic computer functionality. No prior computer experience necessary.

Microsoft Office: Word
Hands-on experience learning to use Microsoft Word. This course covers creating, editing, saving and printing documents, basic document formatting, editing and proofreading, and template use. Completion of PC Basics class or equivalent basic computer knowledge recommended.

Microsoft Office: Excel
Hands-on experience learning to use Microsoft Excel. This course covers basic spreadsheet functionality, spreadsheet formatting, the use of formulas, and saving and printing completed spreadsheets. Completion of PC Basics class or equivalent basic computer knowledge recommended.

Microsoft Office: PowerPoint
Hands-on experience learning to use Microsoft PowerPoint. This course covers basic usage, slide design, the use of animations and transitions, and provides a number of useful tips for creating professional and effective PowerPoint presentations. Completion of PC Basics class or equivalent basic computer knowledge recommended.

This hands-on class covers basic vocabulary, the history of the Internet, Internet browser navigation, common browsing errors, search engine use, searching strategies, and tips to keep yourself and your information safe on the Internet. Completion of PC Basics class or equivalent basic computer knowledge recommended.

This course will guide you through the uses and value of e-mail! Topics include basic e-mail vocabulary, step-by-step instructions to sign up for a free web-based e-mail account, full email functionality, proper e-mail etiquette, and tips to keep you safe while emailing. Completion of PC Basics and Internet Basics classes, or equivalent computer knowledge, highly recommended.

This hands-on class teaches you to sign up for and use various popular social media websites and applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and much more! The course also includes tips to keep you and your information safe while using social media. Completion of PC Basics and Internet Basics classes, or equivalent computer knowledge, highly recommended.

Parking at the Central Library is available in the 3rd Street Parking Garage at the intersection of 3rd Street and Taylor. Bring your parking receipt to the Check Out Desk for 2-1/2 hours of free parking. Street parking is free after 6:00 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
