Monday Book Club Records

History

The Monday Book Club was organized in 1896 to promote the study of books, and to encourage good fellowship among its members. The first president was Pauline Wynne and other members included Marie Anderson, Anne Burnett, Annabel Cooper, Anna Tidball and Alma Turner. It was directed by Mrs. R. E. Buchanan. It was admitted to the Texas Federation of Woman’s Clubs at the first annual state convention in Tyler, Texas on April 26, 1898.

Scope and Description

The collection consists of two volumes of the history of the Monday Book Club and a yearbook from 1916 - 1917.
