John A. Schlottman was born in Giddings, Texas on November 1, 1896. He moved to Fort Worth in 1918, and worked as an apprentice jeweler until he joined the Army during WWI.
He was active in the American Legion and YMCA. He was a charter member of Hemphill Heights Masonic Lodge 1164 and received a 50-year membership pin from the Moslah Shrine Temple.
He married Minnie Elizabeth Huffman on September 1, 1920. They had two sons, James August and William Harry Schlottman. He died on January 13, 1969.
The collection was donated by his son, William Harry Schlottman, in 1992.
Scope and Contents Note
The collection consists of three boxes of cards, certificates, clippings, programs, photographs, and memorabilia. William Schlottman discusses his father and items in the collection in a taped interview.
