The 2016 Presidential Election in Historical Perspective

Join us for a discussion of the 2016 election and how it parallels other elections in our history.

  • 6:30 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, Central, Tandy Lecture Hall

Free and open to the public. After the presentations, the audience will be encouraged to offer their own thoughts or pose questions to the panelists. The event is co-sponsored by Tarleton State University and the League of Women Voters of Tarrant County.

Panelists

  • Dr. Michael Landis, Tarleton State University Assistant Professor of History: Discusses the parallels between the 2016 campaigns and the 1824 and 1828 contests.
  • Dr. Chris Hickman, Tarleton State University Assistant Professor of History: Compares the 2016 election cycle to the tumultuous and critical 1968 campaigns.
  • Mr. Bud Kennedy, Columnist for the Star-Telegram: Analyzes the role of the media and discuss the election’s impact on north Texas.
