Pool History

old pool

The city began demolition and removal of the existing Marine Park pool – originally constructed in 1926 – in September 2012 to make way for a facility.

Construction began later that month on an Enhanced Neighborhood Family Aquatic Center (E-NFAC), a new type of aquatic facility described in the Citywide Aquatic Facilities Master Plan.

Total funding for pool construction and design is $3,850,000, which includes $2 million from capital reserve funds and $1.85 million from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

Byrne Construction Services was selected to construct the facility for $3,225,905. The design strategy called for quality and more durable construction amenities and resulted in additional costs of $193,260.
