Fort Worth Municipal Court General Information (Downtown)

  

Walk-in court is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday and accessible to the public as a first come, first served docket. Sign-in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the court opens at 8:30 a.m. There is a limited number of people that can be scheduled per docket. Once the morning docket is full, you can wait on the 1:30 p.m. docket or return another day.

Masks will be optional, but no longer required, for Courtrooms 1, 3, 4, 5 and jurors. Courtroom 2, all persons will still be required to wear a mask while court is in session. The Fort Worth Municipal Court will continue providing mask for use in the courtrooms.

The Fort Worth Municipal Court hears cases of city ordinance and code violations, parking and traffic violations, and school attendance violations. 

Virtual Court

The Fort Worth Municipal Court offers an alternative to in-person appearance by providing a Virtual Court option. For individuals that would otherwise appear in walk-in court, Virtual Court allows access to a Judge while affording all parties a safe and structured courtroom appearance.   Please review the e-service, expectations, and requirement in preparation for Virtual Court.

Defendants

The A.D. Marshall Public Safety and Courts Building is open to direct physical public access.  If appearing in-person in a courtroom, a face covering/mask is optional, but no longer required, for Courtrooms 1, 3, 4, 5, and jurors.  Courtroom 2, all person will still be required to wear a mask while court is in session.

  • All non-jury court dockets, due dates, and appearance requirements resumed as of Aug. 17, 2020 for Criminal Cases.

Vulnerable Populations: Individuals who are over age 65 and individuals with serious underlying health conditions, such as high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma and those whose immune systems are compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer or other conditions requiring such therapy are considered to be vulnerable populations. If the above definition describes you, then please be advised that you may contact the court and receive accommodations including on demand options via a personal electronic device.

Courtroom Dress Code

As a general rule, everyone should think of the courtroom as a formal affair.  You should dress as though you are going to a very important job interview.  As such, the following attire is NOT ALLOWED:

 

  • Clothing with vulgar, profane, or obscene messages

  • Visible undergarments

  • Tank tops, spaghetti straps, etc. (Shoulders must be covered)

  • Jeans with holes or cut-outs (including slashes)

  • Holes in clothing where skin is visible

  • Bare midriff

  • Shorts

  • Head coverings other than for religious or medical purposes

The Vivian J. Lincoln Court satellite location provides community members, with City of Fort Worth issued citations, access to in-person counter services for payments, proof submission, and court setting requests.

Daily Operating Hours:

Sunday-Monday: Closed

Tuesday-Saturday:  9:00AM to 6:00PM (Closed for lunch daily 1:00PM-2:00PM)

Beginning  August 1st : Virtual Court Judges Services

Tuesdays:   2:30PM-4:30PM

Thursdays: 9:30AM-11:30AM

Beginning January 3, 2023

Beginning July 8, 2023

William F. Rumuly

Director

William F. Rumuly has an extensive background in local government services with 26 years of experience working in three North Texas municipalities. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&M University and holds a Level 2 Court Clerk certification with the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center. He has worked with the City of Fort Worth since 2006, serving as the Clerk of the Court.
