MLK Celebration set for Jan. 15

The 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration, sponsored by the City of Fort Worth Martin Luther King Jr./Juneteenth Employee Committee, is planned for noon Jan. 15 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton St. The public is invited.

The theme is “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right.” The keynote speaker will be Max Krochmal, assistant professor in the TCU Department of History. His current book project follows a diverse group of ordinary people as they built multiracial political, civil rights and labor coalitions in mid-twentieth century Texas. He is the faculty leader of the TCU Civil Rights Bus Tour.

The mistress of ceremonies will be Monica Hamilton, deputy chief of staff in the Fort Worth Mayor and Council Office.

The event will include live entertainment, music, vendors and more.
