For more than a decade, Citizen Foresters have made lasting contributions to community forests throughout North Texas using the skills acquired in the program.

Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council is accepting online applications for the spring Citizen Forester training class in Fort Worth.

The course allows residents to become skilled at planting, pruning and maintaining trees; learning about managing trees in urban settings; and helping the community take care of its trees.

Classes will be on five Wednesdays — March 23, April 13 and 27, May 11 and 25 — from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The location will vary by topic.

Applications are due March 11. There is a $50 registration fee.
