Learn the ins and outs of bus and train travel at an information class for residents 50 and up.

Climbing aboard public transportation for the first time can be daunting — even more so for senior citizens.

The AARP and Fort Worth Transportation Authority are offering a comprehensive training event designed to teach members of the 50-plus community the necessary skills to travel safely and independently on the bus and Trinity Railway Express.

The training will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 3 at the Fort Worth Intermodal Center, 1001 Jones St.

By the end of the session, participants will understand how to read the TRE schedule between Fort Worth and Dallas, to buy tickets and get around Fort Worth’s public transportation system.

A light lunch will be provided. Participants will be required to purchase their own train ticket (65 and up pays $2.50; under 65 pays $5). Register online or call 877-926-8300.
