A temporary route allows safe passage to the Trinity Trails during construction in Riverside Park.

Construction activities in Riverside Park have eliminated access to the Trinity Trials from the Riverside Park trailhead.

However, trail users can proceed east on the sidewalk along Belknap Street from Oakhurst Scenic Drive, then turn north immediately past the bridge’s guardrail. Travel over green space for a short while before coming upon the trails.

The work is part of the first phase of the River Connect Plan. Visitors to Riverside Park will notice construction in the south end of the park, including construction trailers and fencing, and dirt excavation and hauling. In this phase, about 225,000 cubic yards of material will be excavated and removed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The playground and the pecan grove will not be affected by this project.

The Trinity River Vision’s River Connect Plan will provide enhanced flood protection throughout Fort Worth. The plan was adopted in 2010 as the master plan for Riverside Park.

Work is expected to last through September 2017.
