Heavy storms mean higher-than-normal volume of debris that needs to be collected. Excess tree limbs, brush or bulk debris. The city’s Solid Waste Division wants to remind residents how they can assist with clean-up activities by following guidelines and using the appropriate resources.

Downed tree limbs and brush

The City of Fort Worth recycles all tree, brush and yard trimmings as compost, so mixing bulk waste and brush/yard trimmings is against the rules. Follow these tips when setting out debris.

  • Cut and stack tree limbs in organized rows or piles starting at the assigned collection point.
  • For weekly collections, tree limbs should be cut shorter than eight (8) feet in length and less than 4 inches in diameter.
  • Tree limbs larger than 4 inches in diameter or eight feet in length should be stacked separately from small limbs/brush.
  • If the total volume (combined piles) is larger than 10 cubic yards (the size of a Volkswagen Beetle), consider using a city drop-off station to dispose of the debris.

Drop-Off Stations

The city offers access to three drop-off stations for residents who are City of Fort Worth active residential sanitation customers. Just bring a recent water bill, driver’s license or other official ID that matches a Fort Worth service address to use the drop-off station. Residents may use a single axle trailer. No double axle or commercial trailers are allowed.

No commercial landscapers or contractors are allowed to use the drop-off stations.

Service Updates

After storm events, Solid Waste staff assist city departments in clearing rights of way and assess the extent of storm damage. If the volume of storm debris is too much for regular collection, schedule changes may be announced.

To receive information as soon as possible, download the City of Fort Worth Solid Waste app. If there are collection delays, collection information will be forwarded to residents as quickly as possible.

Any service delays will be posted on the city’s website at FortWorthTexas.Gov.

Other collection needs

To ensure collection of storm debris, report any additional needs to the City Call Center at 817-392-1234 or 1234@FortWorthTexas.Gov so a work order can be generated.
