Fort Worth’s homeless population will reach out to a variety of service providers under one roof during the annual Homeless Connect, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 27 at First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Penn St.

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop service and hospitality fair for people who are homeless. The event originated in San Francisco and is now being replicated in more than 100 cities. Such events have been identified by the U.S. Interagency on Homelessness as an innovative model to move people more quickly toward housing and stability and to move from managing homelessness to ending it.

More than 350 homeless guests are expected to attend.

Medical, dental, and vision screenings and wellness exams will be offered. Other offerings include housing and employment assistance, community services and resources, and pet services.

Free transportation will be provided, with pickup at the Lancaster Avenue shelters.

The event is sponsored by Fort Worth’s Neighborhood Services Department, First Presbyterian Church and Directions Home.
