Samuel Werschky, a 21-year U.S. Navy veteran with more than 17 years of experience leading diverse and complex public works and engineering operations, has been named assistant director in the city’s Transportation & Public Works Department.

He will be responsible for overseeing traffic management operations.

Previously the director of public works for Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Werschky led public works operations dispersed over three states. Werschky is a registered professional engineer in Texas and earned a bachelor of science in engineering degree and a master of engineering degree, both from Texas A&M University.

“Sam has years of experience in public works and has shown repeated success with large and complex projects,” Transportation & Public Works Director Doug Wiersig said. “We are excited to have a professional with such a strong background join our team.”
