Fort Worth is developing a strategic plan to outline a set of initiatives to recruit new businesses to the area, attract and retain talent, develop the local workforce and expand existing industry and business sectors. A key part of the plan is to outline approaches to promote investment in targeted areas and to enhance the “quality of place.”

Through its consulting firm, TIP Strategies, the City of Fort Worth Economic Development Department is seeking community input. Residents, community leaders and business executives are encouraged to complete a confidential Stakeholder Survey.

The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and will be available through May 26.

“As a fast growing city, we are prioritizing public engagement more than ever before to ensure managed growth and excellent customer service for our residents,” said Mayor Betsy Price. “Involving citizens to participate in our strategic planning for economic development is only fitting as they are the true stakeholders of the services the City of Fort Worth delivers. I trust and look forward to citizens sharing feedback with our economic development team.”

TIP Strategies will incorporate information collected through the survey with information garnered during roundtables, workshops, interviews and quantitative data analysis.

A Community Town Hall is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 21 at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods, 818 Missouri Ave. Town hall attendees can review preliminary findings and some initial vetting of early-stage strategies. The meeting will be live-streamed.

The department’s strategic plan is scheduled to be presented to the City Council for consideration late this summer.

“We’re early in the process, but I’m thrilled with the input we’re receiving,” said Robert Sturns, the city’s director of economic development. “More exciting for me is to see and hear the intense passion people have for Fort Worth as a place where people can live and work.”

Updates on the efforts, as well as a link to the survey and information about the Town Hall are available on the Economoic Development Plan web page.
