On the recommendation of the ad hoc Municipal Courts Committee, the City Council unanimously voted to appoint Judge James Daniel Rodgers as chief judge.

The Fort Worth native is a graduate of Eastern Hills High School, Baylor University and Baylor School of Law. He was first appointed as a Fort Worth Municipal Court judge in 1996, served as deputy chief judge from 2012–2016 and acting chief judge from Jan. 1, 2017, until his appointment this month.

“Judge Rodgers is the perfect selection to lead the Fort Worth Municipal Court as we enter a new season,” said Municipal Court Director Theresa Ewing. “His understanding of the law, partnered with his deep passion for municipal courts, will bring energy and new ideas.”

Rodgers is an active member of the community. A longtime member of the Breakfast Optimist Club of East Fort Worth and Christ Chapel Bible Church, he also serves on the board of directors of the Texas Municipal Court Association and Education Center. He and his wife Jill have two children and three grandchildren.
