Reconstruction of Montgomery Street to begin this month

Roadway construction will begin this month on the reconstruction of Montgomery Street. The roadway will feature a five-lane road from Interstate 30 to Harley Avenue and four-lanes from Harley Avenue to Camp Bowie. It will also include a shared-use bicycle and pedestrian path on the east side of Montgomery Street.

Construction of the drainage improvements on Bryce Avenue from Sutter Avenue to Montgomery Street are also set to begin. Coordination with Oncor, Atmos Energy, AT&T and Charter Cable continues so lines can be relocated.

The roadway will be constructed in phases to allow for the completion of the utility line relocations. Working in phases also allows traffic to continue in both directions and still have the roadway open during the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Work phases

Phase 1 begins in June and starts with the northbound lanes from Linden Avenue to Camp Bowie Boulevard, followed by the southbound lanes from Camp Bowie Boulevard to Bryce Avenue.

Phase 2 construction begins after the 2018 Fort Worth Stock Show and focuses on the southbound lanes from Bryce Avenue to I-30, and wraps up with construction on the northbound lanes from I-30 to Linden Avenue.

The Montgomery Street makeover is on schedule and expected to be completed in early fall of 2019 – in time for the opening of the new Dickies Arena.

Funding for the project is from the 2014 bond program.
