Mayor Price leads a bike ride
Mayor Betsy Price challenges cyclists to ride 21 miles or more each day for 21 consecutive days over some of the great routes Fort Worth has to offer.

Join FitWorth and Mayor Betsy Price to kick off the 2017 Tour de Fort Worth on June 25.

The Tour de Fort Worth is Price’s celebration of the Tour de France that gives cyclists a chance to experience different parts of the city from the best seat around — a bicycle seat. FitWorth will host numerous organized rides, including walkable and kid-friendly routes.

Last year’s event engaged more than 400 cyclists over 21 days.

The series rolls out at 8 a.m. June 25 at Joe T. Garcia’s, 2201 N. Commerce St. Following a 19-mile ride, breakfast will be served at Joe T’s.

The rides will run through July 16, ending with a final ride celebration at Central Market, 4651 West Freeway. View a list of ride dates and locations on the Tour website.

In line with the mission of FitWorth, every organized ride will be accessible to cyclists of all levels and the program will include walkable routes to engage walkers and runners. Two of the organized rides will feature family-friendly routes. On free days, participants can ride on their own or join a group at a designated meeting spot for trail rides.

Prizes will be awarded to participants with the most miles ridden, social media ambassadors and more.

Helmets are required; lights are necessary for evening rides. Make sure your bicycle is in working order before the ride, and bring your own tools for flat repair.
