City leaders and staff join Girl Scouts to ceremonially break ground on the latest branch in Fort Worth's library system.

Residents in far north Fort Worth will soon have a new library. Officials broke ground June 19 on the new 15,000-square-foot Golden Triangle Library located on Golden Triangle Boulevard west of North Beach Street.

The site was chosen based on its proximity to neighborhood schools, residential and commercial property, and access to a major arterial street.

The library will have a collection of more than 50,000 books, DVDs and CDs. A dedicated area for children’s activities and story time, and computers are also included in the design as well as a makerspace offering science and technology classes.

A meeting room that seats 100 people will also be constructed as part of the library.

Municipal Court will have a satellite office inside the facility for payment processing, document and court filings, and a video walk-in court.

Construction is scheduled to be finished so the new library is operational in fall 2018.

Voters approved $9.1 million in the 2014 bond program to design and construct this facility.
