Whether it's your first time or you're a pro, enjoy some peaceful time on the water viewing all forms of flora and fauna during Canoe Fest this Sunday.

Take a canoe for a test drive during Canoe Fest at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. The event will be held noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

Nature center staff will provide a quick overview of canoe techniques, then you can paddle around on a short section of the West Fork of the Trinity River. (Turns may be limited to 45 minutes when others are waiting.)

Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian. All equipment is provided. The cost is $5 per person (cash only) plus paid admission to the nature center, or $3 for members.

The last canoe sails at 3:30 p.m.

The nature center is at 9601 Fossil Ridge Road. To learn more, call 817-392-7410.
