This year marks the 100th anniversary of the United States entering “the Great War,” which later became known as World War I. From now through October, visit the Fort Worth Lbrary to see how war introduced Texas to the world and the world to Texas — and how neither would ever be the same again.

An exhibit, “From Cowboy to Doughboy: North Texas in WWI” aims to build awareness of the war across North Texas and connect many generations to a broader discussion of how the war impacted our communities then and continues to affect them today.

The exhibit will be on display in the West Wing Gallery of the Central Library, 500 W. Third St., from July 9-October 19. An opening reception is planned for 2 p.m. July 9.

In addition to the exhibit, a film series will present 11 movies at the Central Library’s Tandy Lecture Hall through the course of the event. A series of programs and lectures is planned also. Check online for dates and times for these activities.
