Residents, community leaders and business owners are all invited to join the Community Walk & Talk to engage in making a better Linwood. Join the walk at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at 362 Foch St. next to the entrance of Linwood Park. Appetizers and beverages will be provided.

Team Better Block is helping increase and improve AARP’s work on livable communities across the country. The objectives of the community demonstration project are to help participants:

  • Recognize how placemaking and community design influence successful aging, health, economic vitality and overall livability.
  • Foster healthier, more vibrant communities.
  • Work toward sustainable transportation and land-use patterns.
  • Encourage complete streets and placemaking.
  • Enhance perceptions and attitude toward community change.

Linwood Park is a post-World War II neighborhood on the near west side originally built as military housing that has seen quite a bit of redevelopment since a tornado damaged much of it in the year 2000.
