New eastside library to be a children's library

Posted Nov. 13, 2017 | Last updated Nov. 15, 2017

A visit to the local library is one of the best ways to get a child interested in learning. That is why the city’s newest library will be dedicated to serving children from birth to 18.

The first of its kind in North Texas, the children’s library will be at 3851 E. Lancaster Ave. and will provide educational programs that complement a child’s formal education and be an environment that encourages curiosity, reading, creativity and critical thinking.

Architects have been selected to design the 8,000-square-foot facility. Design will get underway in the next few weeks, and it is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2018. Construction is tentatively slated to begin January 2019 and be completed by fall 2019.

Community meetings to receive residents’ input will be scheduled for early 2018.
