New Year's Day closing schedule

Most city offices, including City Hall, will be closed Monday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s Day holiday. Emergency services will be available as usual.

A number of City Council meetings over the coming weeks are canceled. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.

Garbage collection

As a result of the holidays, garbage, recycling and yard waste collections will slide one day forward for the entire week following each holiday. Two extra bags outside the cart or pay bags is permitted this week.

No garbage collections will take place on Jan. 1. Bulk collections restart on Tuesday after the holiday. Drop-off stations and the Environmental Collection Center will be closed Jan. 1.

Animal shelter

The Fort Worth Animal Shelter is closed Jan. 1.

Libraries, community centers and recreational facilities

Central Library will be closed Dec. 31, and all libraries will be closed Jan. 1; regular hours resume Jan. 2. All book drops will be closed at 6 p.m. Dec. 30 and reopen at normal operating hours on Jan. 2. The book drop at the central branch will be closed at 5 p.m. Dec. 31. No items will be due during the time the book drops are closed.

On Dec. 31, all community centers (except Chisholm Trail), Haws Athletic Center and Log Cabin Village are closed. Chisholm Trail Community Center closes at 6 p.m.; Botanic Garden Center closes at 2 p.m.; Water Garden features are turned off at 6 p.m.; FW@6 programming ends at 6 p.m. On Jan. 1, community centers (except Chisholm Trail), Haws Athletic Center, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden center, Log Cabin Village and McLeland Tennis Center will also be closed.

City golf courses will be closed from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, 2018, to protect the greens from the cold weather that has been forecasted. Additionally, Sycamore Creek will be closed Dec. 30.
