Heading to the Fort Worth Zoo during Spring Break week? Plan your route beforehand to limit traffic hassles.

Spring Break week is here again, and that means Fort Worth’s cultural attractions will be popular destinations for parents and kids looking to enjoy their time away from school.

Here are tips for managing traffic near the attractions:

Take the Safari Express

From March 10-18, the Safari Express bus will run direct service from Bus Bay A, adjacent to the Trinity Railway Express platform, at the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC), 1001 Jones St., to and from the Fort Worth Zoo’s main entrance on Colonial Parkway.

A round-trip day pass for the Safari Express is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 18 and under and seniors 65 and older (with transit agency reduced ID card), and free for children under 4.

The Safari Express will run every 30 minutes from 9:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. through March 18. The first shuttle leaves the ITC at 9:15 a.m. and the last weekday shuttle leaves the zoo at 6:15 pm. On Saturday and Sunday the last bus will leave the zoo at 6:30 p.m.

Be patient when traveling near the zoo

Traffic surrounding the Fort Worth Zoo is always busy during Spring Break. Visitors will be able to access the zoo using their normal route, but be prepared to wait at intersections as you approach the zoo.

Approaching the zoo from the south by taking Berry Street to University Drive is often a less-congested route. View park information.

Not going to the zoo?

If you’re heading elsewhere, consider using an alternate route to avoid congestion along streets that lead to the zoo.
