Bus stop improvements planned for East Rosedale

Posted May 11, 2018

Bus stop improvements will soon be in place along East Rosedale Street from Miller Avenue to Loop 820 during roadway construction.

The construction project is being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and will result in an improved four-lane divided roadway. This section of Rosedale is the last segment of improvements to Rosedale stretching from Forest Park Boulevard to Loop 820.

During construction, some residents have inquired about the adequacy of bus stop locations and their compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. City staff has been working with TxDOT, the contractor and Trinity Metro to provide acceptable bus loading areas in the construction zone. The parties have agreed to install improved bus stop waiting pads and approach walking areas that comply with ADA requirements.

In addition, a few bus stops will be temporarily relocated during certain phases of construction.

These bus stop improvements should be in place in the next two to three weeks and will remain in place for the duration of the construction project.

Rerouting the existing transit route by Trinity Metro was an option that has been considered, but it was not practical for large buses to operate on narrow local streets with vehicle parking on both sides of the street.
