Municipal Court partnering with Summer Learn and Earn program

Posted June 14, 2018

The Fort Worth Municipal Court has launched a summer employment program for youth with disabilities between 14-22 years old.

The program is sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth and the Texas Workforce Commission. Additional partners include CVS, Texas Wesleyan University, Omni Hotel & Resort, Henry Schein and others.

The employers plan to place 128 students in internships that allow them to receive five weeks of paid work experience. The Municipal Court placed David Ballesteros-Gutierrez-in the A.D. Marshall Public Safety and Courts Building downtown and Ashton Wade in the Southwest Municipal Court.

“We give these youth participants the opportunity to work in our business and learn valuable work skills to propel them to success in the future,” said William Rumuly, clerk of the court.

The Summer Learn and Earn program aims to:

  • Inspire students through the power of work.
  • Introduce students to a world of possibilities in a variety of careers.
  • Prepare students for the future by developing and enhancing their work skills.
