There are many ways to recognize the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., but none as important or meaningful as making a personal commitment to move forward rooted in the ideals of King’s legacy: Crossing racial and cultural divides, through service and kindness, based on the philosophy of nonviolence.

The Fort Worth Human Relations Commission’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, in collaborating with the city’s MLK/Juneteenth Employee Committee, launched Love for Humanity: 51 Acts of Service or Kindness.

The months-long campaign is open to all Fort Worth residents.

Residents who pledge agree to complete 51 acts of kindness or community service over the coming months, culminating on Aug. 28, the day that King delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech.

The objective is to raise awareness in ourselves and each other, to remember that intentional acts — large and small — are significant, meaningful and the best way to connect with the Fort Worth community.

Learn what kind of acts qualify for Love for Humanity.
