Camp leaders wanted for this summer’s Camp Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth is currently seeking applicants to help out with Camp Fort Worth programs across the city’s 20 community centers and four mobile recreation sites this summer.

These camp leaders will make a positive impact on kids through activities that foster teambuilding, literacy, leadership development and a healthy lifestyle.

Those interested can attend a hiring fair from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 13 at Victory Forest Community Center, 3427 Hemphill St. They will also need to apply online before the hiring fair on the city’s hiring website.

There are two different positions available:

Camp Leader

Applicants should:

  • Be age 18 or older (age 17 if a high school graduate).
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have six months of training/experience (or the equivalent of 1,040 hours) from volunteering, an internship or observation work, leading programs for children ages 5-13 in a recreational or educational environment.
  • Display working knowledge of arts, crafts, games and a variety of sports.
  • Be motivated, creative, energetic, flexible, show initiative and display good decision-making skills.

Camp Leader – Intern

Students involved in education, recreation or similar degree fields can receive credit toward their degree for this paid internship with Camp Fort Worth.

Applicants should:

  • Be enrolled in college or have graduated within the past year.
  • Have a minimum of 16 credit hours from an accredited college or university, with major course work in education, social work, child development or a related field.
  • Display working knowledge of arts, crafts, games and a variety of sports.
  • Be motivated, creative, energetic, flexible, show initiative and display good decision-making skills.
