After School Programs kick off registration before classes begin

Students aged 5-13 can enjoy recreation and enrichment activities each weekday afternoon.

As students prepare to head back to the classroom, many parents are also on the lookout for ways to keep their kids active and engaged between the end of the school day and the end of the work day.

That’s where After School Programs come in. All of Fort Worth’s 21 community centers offer After School Programs that provide students ages 5-13 with a balanced curriculum of academic support, cultural enrichment and recreation with friends on weekday afternoons.

While caregivers can pick up their student and drop them off at the center in the afternoon, many community centers also provide pickup from area schools for an additional fee. Some centers located near schools provide students with supervised group walks from the school to the center.

Contact your nearest community center for more information about prices and pick-up locations, or register your child online.

New network saves time, paperwork for medical information

For the first time this year, community centers will be incorporating the ePACT secure emergency network into their registration processes. This network will collect and store emergency contacts and other medical information about program participants electronically, taking the place of paper forms.

The new ePACT network has several benefits for both customers and center staff:

  • Saves time – and paperwork! Parents will only have to enter their child’s medical information into ePACT a single time. For every year following, they’ll just have to verify that it’s still correct – no more re-entering medical information year after year.
  • Improved privacy and security. ePACT’s network keeps participant medical information private and secure, while making sure that authorized center staff can still access it when needed.
  • Better support for participants and center staff. If a child’s medical information changes, parents can update it on the ePACT network at any time, and center staff will automatically receive those new details.
