How Fort Worth residents can reach out to victims in El Paso, Dayton

Posted Aug. 7, 2019

The deadly events of this past weekend in El Paso and Dayton have left Americans stunned, saddened and wondering how they can help fellow Texans and others in need.

The City of Fort Worth supports the Fort Worth Chamber and fellow members of the Texas Metro 8 Chambers of Commerce, of which the Greater El Paso Chamber is a member. The Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is supporting assistance efforts, too.

The following organizations are accepting donations to help those reeling from the tragedy:

  • Donate blood. Supplies in Tarrant County are very low, and even though this blood may not directly help the wounded in El Paso or Dayton, it will help our community in need of blood now. Blood already on the shelves is critical to respond to any emergency.
  • Assist with funeral costs. Funeral costs for some of the affected families are daunting. Monetary donations are being accepted by the El Paso Community Foundation (EPCF) for the victims of the shooting. EPCF will waive administrative and credit card fees for all donations. The Paso del Norte Community Foundation also has established the El Paso Victims Relief Fund to support the victims and families of the shooting.
  • Donate to the American Red Cross. This national organization is providing support and comfort in both communities.
