Observe America Recycles Day with a full slate of activities

Learn how Fort Worth is adjusting to changes in the recycling marketplace during a Facebook Live from the Central Library on Nov. 16.

Be a part of Fort Worth Recycles Day in honor of America Recycles Day when you join a day of activities for the entire family celebrating everything green. Learn about recycling and backyard composting, view an art show hosted by the Fort Worth Independent School District, enjoy the Lone Star Film Festival and more.

The event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov 16 at the Fort Worth Central Library, 500 W Third St.

Activities are planned in multiple areas throughout the library.

Discovery Theater

10:30-11:30 a.m., State of Recycling in Fort Worth. The inaugural State of Recycling in Fort Worth will stream on Facebook Live. Whether you are attending the event at the library or are at home, sit back and learn about what is happening in the world of recycling — specifically, how it’s affecting Fort Worth. A panel of four experts in the solid waste and recycling industry look forward to hearing from residents during the conversation. Register online. 1-2 p.m., story time. 2:30-4 p.m., free EarthXFilm screening of The Human Element. Obtain tickets online.

Children’s Main Area

Noon-4 p.m., Youth activities include recycling games and composting activities.

Tandy Center

10 a.m. to 6 p.m., local selections from the 13th annual Lone Star Film Festival.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Raffle prizes, exhibitor booths with games, activities and fun ideas.

  • The Fort Worth Community Arts Center will collect reusable items for an upcoming Fort Worth Public Art project from 9-11 a.m. Nov. 16.
  • Recycle Right, a free hands-on program at the Riverside and Northside libraries at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Diamond Hill, Seminary South and Northwest branches.
